Audio Poetry is a collection of lyrics being published by a collection of friends to give hope to all of the weary hearts that  are walking through their own Dark Night of the Soul.  Each lyric is paired with a prayer for the hearts that need the words, to provide spiritual depth for the reader and to reestablish the shared nature of this human journey that connects that all those who have hoped and dreamed and even despaired throughout the centuries share.

The Creator collects their tears in a bottle as well as our own.

"You have recorded my wanderings. You put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your Book?" Psalm 56:9

Fasting and Tzedakah

ISAIAH 58

(Tree of Life Version TLV)

“Cry aloud, do not hold back!
Raise your voice like a shofar.
Tell My people their transgression,
and the house of Jacob their sins.
Yet they seek Me day to day
and delight to know My ways,
as if they were a nation that did right,
and had not forsaken their God’s decree.
They ask Me for righteous judgments;
they delight in the nearness of God.”

“Why have we fasted.
yet You do not see?
Why have we afflicted our souls,
yet You take no notice?”

“Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure,
and exploit all your laborers.
Behold, you fast for strife and contention
and to strike with a wicked fist.
You should not fast as you do today
to make your voice heard on high.
Is this the fast I have chosen?
A day for one to afflict his soul?
Is it to bow down his head like a reed,
and spreading out sackcloth and ashes?
Will you call this a fast
and a day acceptable to Adonai?

“Is not this the fast I choose:
to release the bonds of wickedness,
to untie the cords of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to tear off every yoke?
Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
to bring the homeless poor into your house?
When you see the naked, to cover him,
and not hide yourself from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will spring up speedily.
Your righteousness will go before you,
the glory of Adonai as your rear guard.”
Then you will call, and Adonai will answer.
You will cry and He will say, “Here I am.”
If you get rid of the yoke among you—
finger-pointing and badmouthing—
If you give yourself to the hungry,
and satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
then your light will rise in darkness,
and your gloom will be like midday.
Then Adonai will guide you continually,
    satisfy your soul in drought
    and strengthen your bones.
You will be like a watered garden,
like a spring of water whose waters never fail.
Some of you will rebuild the ancient ruins,
will raise up the age-old foundations,
will be called Repairer of the Breach,
    Restorer of Streets for Dwelling.
If you turn back your foot from Shabbat,
from doing your pleasure on My holy day,
and call Shabbat a delight,
the holy day of Adonai honorable,
If you honor it, not going your own ways,
    not seeking your own pleasure,
    nor speaking your usual speech,
then You will delight yourself in Adonai,
and I will let you ride over the heights of the earth,
I will feed you with the heritage of your father Jacob.”
For the mouth of Adonai has spoken.

About the Author

About the Author

Brian “Asriel” Newman lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee where he attends a Messianic Congregation and spends weekends with his two dearly loved daughters, Aliyahna Shalom and Shema Yisrael.

He has been writing from an early age after art failed to be a successful endeavor. Brian has translated his years of life experience that begin with growing up in a log cabin where he had a pet raccoon in a town without a traffic light, to serving 4 years in the military where he was stationed in Germany and Oklahoma to lyric writing in Nashville where he was also studying History and German at Belmont University, travelling back to Germany to be an exchange student, on to grad school for seminary and a master’s in marriage and family, to divorce and a brief time of homelessness afterwards.
Then there was ministry that never left the ground, and much financial struggle along with way.

Brian shares his experiences with Anxiety and Depression, the early death of both parents, falling in and out of love, living in both the backwoods of Tennessee and the cities of Europe, and all that The Creator has taught Him and blessed Him with along The Way.

“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which You established—what is man, that You are mindful of him?And the son of man, that You care for him? Psalm 8:4

The Tree That Set Me Free (by Tania Nastassja Bento)

The Tree That Set Me Free

You take my Brokenness

As You broke upon that Tree
Your pursuit of my Heart
You came to set me Free

You take my Brokenness
As You broke upon that Tree
Your pursuit of my Heart
You came to set me Free

My broken trust is bandaged Again
As Your body wrapped in the Tomb
Your love makes waves higher than the Pain
Pain that's been filling Me

I'm Worn
Your broken Body
Heals all inside of Me

Finally My broken heart can Breathe
It revived the day You died for Me
You gave all you Had
No it wasn’t Easy

You prayed it could Pass
But overcame until it was Finished
You gave it Up, So I don't give Up

You shed it all, Ransomed me from the Fall
You were forsaken so I will never be Alone
You rescued me through the Nails
That made You Bleed

And Then You fought MY Hell for ME

You take me Home,
You make me Clean
You give me life Eternally

You gave me a Name like no other Name
As beloved Daughter, I matter most to You

You took my shame, You took my Tears
So I can know Now
Know Now You love Me

You're near I am Revived
As You are Alive,
No longer dead
But risen to New Life

Dead to my Brokenness
Because You took my Mess
Alive to Freedom,
You broke my Bondage

You take my Brokenness

As You broke upon that Tree
Your pursuit of my Heart
You came to set me Free

Prayer for Those Set Free On The Tree

Heavenly Father,

Let not our sorrow or momentary trials distract us from the Power
That has already redeemed us from Death to Life.

Help us to know that Your Heart Breaks
When we weep and we are not Alone.

Healer,

Forgive us when we let our pain cripple our desire to run to You.
Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, comfort us through Your Love.

Let us dwell in Your Presence that restores our peace.
Remind us that we can taste and see that you are Good.

You made me blind eyes see there is You and You are all my Soul needs.

Let us walk in forgiveness with those who caused us pain and free us from the bondage of bearing a Grudge.

Sustainer,

Remind us that Jesus is able to bear all our Burden.
Nothing is too much for You but refresh our Souls with True Life.

You take our Fears and give us Hope in the destiny you Prepared
For Us before Time.

Thank you Yahshua,
For bringing me out of MY Death and into YOUR Life.

“Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our pains.
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
struck by God, and afflicted. But He was pierced because of our transgressions,

crushed because of our iniquities.
The chastisement for our shalom was upon Him,
and by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah the Prophet

Just When You Thought The Best Was Through

Just When You Thought The Best Was Through

On a cold January the sky fell down
The bricks were crumbling and the stones toppled out
On an old typewriter I spelled it there , my soul out loud
Then you put them all together glue gun spine and paper bound
You said hey there brother, don’t let yourself drown
Your world is so much bigger than this beggar’s town
----Friend you’ve never found it out
All this Treasure you’ve hid within yourself
Friend I dug out all the gold from you
All the words inside you never knew
They’ve been building a better world for you
Just when you thought the best was through
Just when you though the best was through
-On a warm November it turned all round
The girl came back and the accounts blacked out
On a brand new podium I spoke it there, my soul out loud
Then you put them all together bringing smiles from frowns and getting videos out
You said hey there brother, don’t let yourself get proud
Your world was once so much smaller than this empire now
----Friend you’ve never found it out
All this Treasure you’ve hid within yourself
Friend I dug out all the gold from you
All the words inside you never knew
They’ve been building a better world for you
Just when you thought the best was through
Just when you though the best was through

Prayer For Those Who Thought The Best Was Through

To The God who Raises Up The Lowly

We ask that you help us see others with our Spirits and not just our Eyes
We ask that you help others see us with their Spirits and not just their Eyes
We ask that we all Wear our White Stones Proud
We ask that we all toss our Black Stones Out
We ask that your Raise up the Lowly from the Pit
We ask that your Bring the Prideful down from the Pedistool
We ask that you mold us into Who we are made to Be
We ask that you Break of us the Desire to be Someone Else Instead

“For you see your calling, brothers and sisters, that not many are wise according to human standards, not many are powerful, and not many are born well. Yet God chose the foolish things of the world so He might put to shame the wise; and God chose the weak things of the world so He might put to shame the strong; and God chose the lowly and despised things of the world, the things that are as nothing, so He might bring to nothing the things that are— so that no human might boast before God.”
1st Corinthians Chapter 1 Verse 28

Song for Someone Unknown

Song for Someone

Tonight,
For the first time- I picked up for your Call Yet
I’m not Begging to Stay Or
Asking how much Labor will this Cost for Love?
Today,
For the very first time-I walked into your Arms Yet
I’m coming to Life instead of Fading Away And
Asking how many Nights will we have until its Gone?
Tomorrow,
For the very first time-I will walk into my Home Yet
Time will Soothe instead of Burn, Someone Stands instead of Runs, And
Words Calm instead of Cut
This Song is for Someone, Someone whose Name is not yet Known
This Song is for a Place I’ve yet to be, A Place most would call Home
This Song is for Someone, Someone whose Name is not yet Known
Tonight,
For the Covenant I draw my Sword- To fight your Demons All
I’ve been Anxious to Slay for
Taking all the Hopes and Dreams they stole Away
Today,
For the very first time-I hold the ones you Love
I’m coming with a Hammer to break down their Walls And
Arriving with a Big Love to recover how they’ve Shone
Tomorrow,
For all our Yesterdays I return, to bring the Wages of Honor to your Door
The Flames Climb instead of Fall, Grey becomes as Gold And
A Lifetime spills into the Kingdom because a Lifetime was not Enough
This Song is for Someone, Someone whose Name is not yet Known
Someone whose Name is not yet Known

Prayer for Those Singing a Song for Someone Unknown

Divine Matchmaker

We ask for your Eternal Mind to give us Hope
You know the End from the Beginning
You see the Hearts where each of the Lonely will find a Place to Belong
Before their Voice is Heard or their Smile is even Known
You Created the Kingdom to Come
Where there is Communion among all the Souls
You Created the Bridal Covenant to Remind us of Home

“Instead let it be in the hidden person of the heart, with the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. For this is the way the holy women, who put their hope in God, used to beautify themselves long ago—being submitted to their own husbands just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. You have become her daughters by doing what is good and not fearing intimidation. In the same way, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way. Though they are weaker partners, honor them as equal heirs of the grace of life. In this way, your prayers will not be hindered.”

The Ones To Turn It Around

TURN IT AROUND

Got your knees down on the floor
Conversing with angels again
All alone with the Lord of all your hopes again
At the home of this madness
You patiently wait on Him to take your sadness
And I told you that I would never understand
But here we are, hand in hand again
The Someone between us has it written down
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
-Got my head down on the floor
Hiding from my demons again
All alone with the ghosts of all my chances again
At the home of this madness
Yes I shake and I wait on
Light to cure my darkness
And you told me you would never understand
But here we are, hand in hand again
Chorus: The Someone between has it written down
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
We’re both out of our time
We’re both out of our place
I’m about out of my Mind
You’re absolutely never out of Grace
Somewhere between us we’ll be found
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
-Been so long on your knees
But you aren’t here by chance
This is your song and this fight is your dance
Children been waiting for a true believer
Another generation spinning out of control
And the home of this modern madness
If you don’t pray it will soon swallow them all
We’re both out of our time
We’re both out of our place
I’m about out of my Mind
You’re absolutely never out of Grace
Somewhere between us we’ll be found
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
- Sometimes I wonder how you’re strong
In a world that believes you’re wrong
Lead me to that Light
So I can guide my hands to find my Sword
Lead me to that Flame
So I can hold you safely through the Cold
Tell me tomorrow and I’ll believe

All that you speak about this God
All that I won’t admit to me
Chorus:
The Someone between has it written down
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
We’ll be the ones to turn it around
We’re both out of our time
We’re both out of our place
I’m about out of my Mind
You’re absolutely never out of Grace
Somewhere between us we’ll be found
We’ll be the ones to turn it around

Prayer for Those Who Turn It Around

Creator of Friendship and Covenant
We ask that You bring hearts into our Lives
Hearts that will give Purpose to our Strength instead of Prey on our Weakness
We ask that You bring Hands into Our Lives
Hand that will Lift Us Up instead of Pull Us Down
We ask that you Bring Feet into our Lives
Feet that will lead us fast into the Light instead of further into the Darkness
We ask that you Bring Eyes into our Lives
Eyes that see the Possibility instead of the Imperfection
We ask that you Bring Ears into our Lives
Ears that hear only the Truth and not the Lies
We ask that you bring those who Bring Shalom
Because this World has not taught us How to Heal but only How to Bleed

“Two are better than one,
because they get a good return for their effort.
For if they fall, the one will lift up his companion.
But oy to the one who falls and has no one to lift him up!
Furthermore, if two lie together, then they will be warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
Though a man might overpower one, two can stand against him.
Moreover a threefold cord cannot be quickly broken.”
